Coroner names Wynyard fire victim

27/08/2008 6:00:00 PM
THE name of a 77-year-old woman killed in a Housing Tasmania unit fire at Wynyard on Monday has been released by Coroner Peter Wilson.

She was Mrs Noela Shirley Leary, of Unit 7 / 25 Bowick Street, Wynyard.

The circumstances surrounding Mrs Leary's death are still being investigated by Tasmania Police on behalf of the Coroner and the coronial inquiry will be completed at a later date.

The fire was reported at about 10.15am on Monday by several callers but the unit, next to the Table Cape primary school, was well ablaze when firefighters arrived.

Mrs Leary's body was discovered near her bed and it is suspected that a cigarette may have started the blaze.
